Changes to COVID-19 Rapid Testing at Heart of America Johnson Clinics
Rugby, ND –
A decision made by members of the Heart of America medical staff, with direction from state and local health officials will change how COVID-19 rapid testing will be performed at all HAMC Johnson Clinic locations in Rugby, Maddock and Dunseith.
Patients presenting to the clinic will no longer have the ability to request a rapid test. Only patients who are being admitted into the acute nursing wing, symptomatic patients presenting to the emergency room and those that are presenting for surgical procedures will be receiving the rapid testing.
This decision was made based on the information provided by health officials indicating rapid tests are more likely to have a false negative result. Symptomatic patients who test negative with a rapid test will have a PCR test completed to be further evaluated by the state lab and will be required to self-isolate until test results have been received.
