Foundation Golf Tourney a Success
Foundation Golf Tourney a Success
Through sponsorships, team fees, pay-to-play holes and prize donations, the 21
st
annual Good Samaritan Health Services Foundation Charity Golf Classic raised more than $21,000 for the Rugby Ambulance Service on July 19 at the Rugby Golf Club.
Nearly 100 golfers, representing more than 20 local businesses and organizations, participated in the event. Golfers were sorted into two flights and countbacks used to determine the winning teams.
“We are so grateful to the folks who joined in the fun on Friday to kick-off fundraising for a new ambulance for the Rugby EMS team,” said GSHS Foundation coordinator Cathy Jelsing. “Some of the golfers have been playing in the Charity Golf Classic since its founding 21 years ago. And our sponsors, local and corporate, also are essential to this event’s success.”
Major tournament sponsors ($1,000 each) included: Anderson Funeral Homes, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota Caring Foundation, Bremer Bank, Center Mutual Insurance, First International Bank and Trust, Heart of America Clinic Pharmacy, Joy Dental Design and Merchants Bank. Many more organizations and individuals sponsored holes, sand traps, the leaderboard, beverage carts, and even a course outhouse with gifts ranging from $100 to $600.
First place winners in the first flight were Rugby Dental teammates Dr. Kathy and Mike Santjer, Gary Myhre and Rugby Golf Club manager Corey Espe. Taking first place in the second flight was the First International Bank and Trust team led by Tanner Johnson, which included Carlie Johnson, Elizabeth and Nathan Blessum.
Second place winners, first flight, Integrity Appraisals: Tonia Dosch, Tony Bernhardt, Rick Bruggeman, and Doug Bruggeman. Second place, second flight, representing the Rugby Eagles Club: Angie Zietz, Tanner Bernhardt, Toby McCabe and Mitch Grochow.
Third place winners, first flight, Pioneer Seeds: Joanie Bruggeman, Jace Eagleson, Gail and Monte Schneibel. Third place, second flight, “The Duffers”: Susan and Christopher Price and Dr. William and Vicki Lowe.
