Further Testing Completed to Clarify Positive COVID-19 Test
Rugby, ND –
Further testing has been completed to help validate a third positive COVID-19 case for Pierce County. An initial positive test during the Sentinel Testing performed on May 3rd, caused Heart of America Medical Center (HAMC) to investigate further regarding the transmission of the COVID-19. The positive test stemmed from a female in her 90’s who resides in the Haaland Manor Assisted Living Apartments. Further testing was completed at the HAMC lab, the State lab, and Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. All three subsequent tests showed a negative result.
After a consultation with the North Dakota Department of Health it was concluded that the state will continue to count the initial positive test result in the total number of positive cases for Pierce County. HAMC will continue to treat the case as positive and follow appropriate protocols and procedures. The total number for Pierce County is three, with two of the three cases considered recovered.
