Before & After Surgery

Before Surgery

At the time your surgery is scheduled, your surgeon or a member of the surgery clinic staff will give you preoperative instructions.

The day before your procedure, a surgical nurse will call to:
  • Tell you what to expect
  • Answer questions
  • Give you your check-in time and estimated time of discharge
It is very important that the staff know exactly what medications you are taking at home. Some medications need to be stopped prior to surgery - others need to be continued. Please remember to bring all your medications with you when you come to the hospital for surgery.

Questions are welcome. During regular office hours, please call and ask to speak with operating room director Chelsey Wyatt at 701-776-5455 ext. 2329 or surgery clinic assistant at 701-776-7000. After hours, call 701-776-5261 and ask that a surgery nurse be paged.

After Surgery

Most procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, which means you will return home the day of your surgery. When you are discharged you will be given a post-surgery instruction sheet outlining what you should and should not do when you get home.

If you have any post-surgery concerns or questions, please call 701-776-5261 and ask that a surgery nurse be paged.
