The Good Samaritan Health Services Foundation will open their application for the 2025 Carol Shively Memorial Nursing Scholarship November 15th. The $500 annual scholarship is offered to a Rugby area student either pursuing or preparing to pursue a nursing career.
Preference for the scholarship is given to applicants who have been accepted into a nursing program and who have been employed, or plan to be employed, by the Good Samaritan Hospital Association, which includes Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, the Heart of America Medical Center Clinics in Rugby, Maddock, and Dunseith, or the Haaland Estates Basic Care and Assisted Living Facility in Rugby.

Carol Shively
Carol Shively was a former nursing assistant at Heart of America Medical Center. She was studying to become a nurse when she lost her life in a motor vehicle accident. The Carol Shivley Scholarship was initially established by friends and family and later was picked up by the Good Samaritan Health Services Foundation to be offered in perpetuity.
The Good Samaritan Health Services Foundation offers a $500 Memorial Nursing Scholarship in perpetuity of Carol Shively. Eligible students to apply are from the Rugby area and are pursuing or preparing to pursue a nursing career.
