Auxiliary and Volunteers
All HAMC, all volunteers become members of the Auxiliary. In addition to providing volunteer services, Auxiliary members raise money in support of HAMC and Haaland Estates. Over the years, the Auxiliary has raised tens of thousands of dollars for medical equipment, furnishings for public areas, and a multitude of other needs.

If you’re looking for a meaningful volunteer experience, Heart of America Medical Center’s Haaland Estates Assisted Living and Resident Care Center is a fantastic option. Volunteer opportunities include:
- Greeting visitors.
- Assisting the Care Center with activities.
- Providing hair care.
- Reading and writing with residents.
- Assisting with church services.
- Assisting with transportation.
- And so much more!

Hospice Volunteers
Heart of America Hospice volunteers provide services based on the specific needs of patients and their families. Their services may include:
- Help with housekeeping, laundry, meals, and running errands.
- Provide companionship and/or spiritual support;
- Help with letter writing, reading, and encouraging hobbies;
- Provide respite support and listening ears for family members.
Volunteers who have direct contact with hospice patients are required to attend hospice training. Heart of America Hospice pays for the training and all ongoing education.

Foundation Volunteers
Most of the volunteer work of the GSHS Foundation happens twice a year. The GSHS Foundation holds two major fundraisers throughout the year through fun events: the Charity Golf Classic and the Greatest Needs Gala. Volunteers for these events help us make them a success.
The HAMC Volunteer Services Director processes the volunteer applications, orients new volunteers to their jobs, and records volunteer activities. We'd love to have you on our team.
Tracking volunteer hours is important not only to give you credit for your contributions of time and talents but also for reporting to our donors, grant-makers, and Federal and State agencies. Your hours count! Be sure to record them right away!
